Dicegeeks April Newsletter
Dicegeeks March Newsletter
This month has been crazy. A lot of nuts and bolts work on Realms of Understreet has been going on. Sadly, nothing really interesting to share except...
Awesome news! A gaming group is now playing Realms of Understreet. You can see pictures below. I couldn't be more excited that role-players are enjoying my setting.
No guest post this month. If you would like to submit something, please see the guidelines below.
Since there were no guest posts, I wrote a couple of bits that I'm hoping to expand soon.
Keep gaming!
Matt

Thoughts about Sieges
I was doing some reading about sieges, because... who doesn't? Here's where I started:
Siege - Wikipedia
Medieval Warfare - Wikipedia
List of Sieges - Wikipedia (Incredible history!)
I've never run a major siege in a fantasy setting, other than kid stuff. I have GMed several in sci-fi settings, mainly Star Wars. The few times I've done it, I just home-brewed rules.
Now that I'm running more fantasy, I have been thinking about full-scale sieges. Of course, characters assaulting or defending a great castle would be awesome.
However, I was thinking of something a bit out of the box. I was thinking about using a siege as a backdrop.
The characters would be in a city under siege. They would be non-combatants, or at least not involved in the defense of the city.
Lack of food and water and the maddening daily attacks would be used to create tension. Also, the growing desperation of the inhabitants and disintegrating political structure would be key points to press.
This could be a good beginning to a campaign. The characters could bond during the siege. As the city is conquered, they could escape together.
This would a set them up as wandering adventurers, like Aeneis and the surviving Trojans.
Realms of Understreet - Pre-Order
In the summer, I will be releasing a full campaign setting for Realms of Understreet. This will be a full 5e campaign setting packed with incredible details of the world and tons of original content.
The introductory PDF has been getting great reviews. Check it out here.
