I’m experimenting with content in the newsletter in line with my goal of becoming a better game master. I believe we learn the most about DMing by running games and by drawing ideas and themes from literature, movies, books, history, mythology, and folklore.
The newsletter is nearing 10,000 subscribers, and I’d love your help in pushing it over the line. If you could share it with your friends, I’d greatly appreciate it. Just hit the button below.
Dragonslayer (1981)
Possibly the greatest cinematic dragon, Vermithrax Pejorative, leapt off the screen and set fire to my imagination in this 1981 dark Disney film. It’s ripe with material for dungeon masters and D&D players alike.
Ideas
Dragons are so powerful that brute force alone cannot defeat them. Magic and trickery will be needed.
Special weapons must be forged—gather rare materials and find a worthy smith.
A kingdom is in danger from a dragon. Sure, it’s cliché—but embrace it. Run the cliché.
Watch Dragonslayer for free on Hoopla. See the trailer below.

The Screening Room
Movies and TV shows provide situations and inspiration for our campaigns. Even if the genre is different from what we're running, it doesn't matter—the more stories we experience, the more ideas and narrative devices we can inject into our RPG campaigns.
